Kate Lee is one of the most experienced voice coaches in the UK broadcasting industry. For more than fifteen years she has worked with hundreds of broadcasters in all styles of radio from Capital FM to hospital radio, from Talksport to Heart fm, from Smooth fm to BBC stations nationwide, from new talent to breakfast and drive-time presenters to all styles of news presentation.

“Ever since we met, I’ve been raving about you to anyone who’d listen!”

Presenter, UTV Radio

“Kate got to the ‘nub’ of an issue based on not very much listening – this was quite impressive.”

News Presenter BBC Regional Radio

Our expertise lies with Kate’s specialised experience as a performance coach. With an impressive array of testimonials from within the UK radio and TV industry, she understands the pressures of working to broadcasting deadlines and has designed practical ways to help broadcasters achieve a natural, confident broadcast voice performance.

Our Voice Coaching for Broadcasters can include:

  • Achieve on-air presence and a natural delivery style to suit the station. Establishing the right pace, pause, tone and expression
  • Help develop broadcaster’s authentic voice – range, tone, resonance etc. including how to project without ‘shouting’. Improving on-air delivery for authority, friendliness, personality etc.
  • Tackling individual issues, for instance, lowering pitch, nasality, lack of clarity, pace problems, enunciation/pronunciation, breathing problems etc.
  • Useful performance techniques including breathing and postures, plus ideas for warm-ups, confidence building and personal management
  • Presenters: How to achieve on-air impact and better listener engagement by more expressive voice-use and the power of the presenter’s pause! How to maximise audience rapport. How to read scripts and sound as if you’re just chatting
  • News presenters/Reporters: Script reading skills – how to capture listener’s attention, and keep them listening. How to achieve the right balance of authority and friendliness, gravitas and entertainment - to suit the station style.

“I have called upon Kate’s services in many of the stations I have run in recent years. Whether news, talk or music stations, Kate has helped our journalists and presenters… She manages to form a great relationship with those she coaches – and always absorbs the station context in which they are performing with intelligence and due sensitivity. I have heard remarkable feedback about her efforts from those she meets – and heard the results on air too. Kate makes a difference.”

David Lloyd: Programme and Marketing Director – Orion Media (Free Radio)

“It’s always a pleasure to deal with you and I know the people who have contact with you get a great deal out of it.”

“I just wanted to put on record my thanks for allowing me to take part in the voice training with Kate Lee last week. This was the third time I have taken part in such sessions and Kate was by far the best.
